Are There IRS Request Flags and Data Field Flags Starting In 2024-25?

Award Year: 2024-25 KA-36776 Helpfulness Rating 531 page views

This guidance is specific to the 2024-25 award year and later.

No. The U.S. Department of Education (ED) has discontinued the use of the IRS Request Flags and IRS Data Field Flags starting with the 2024-25 award year. Per ED, if federal tax information (FTI) is retrieved from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), that data in the FTI block on the Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) will be used in the student aid index (SAI) calculation unless a professional judgment (PJ) adjustment is made by the financial aid administrator (FAA). If PJ is performed, then the adjusted data provided by the FAA will be used for those fields in the SAI calculation instead of the fields retrieved from the IRS.
