Will a New ISIR With Federal Tax Information Be Pushed If a Contributor Manually Enters Tax Data While the FSA ID Is Being Verified?

Award Year: 2024-25 KA-36938 Helpfulness Rating 243 page views

This guidance is specific to the 2024-25 award year and later.

Scenario: The student or contributor manually enters their tax return data on the FAFSA while their Federal Student Aid identification (FSA ID) is being verified.

Answer: Yes. According to guidance NASFAA has received from the U.S. Department of Education (ED), when the FSA ID verification process is completed, the FAFSA Processing System (FPS) will run the FUTURE Act Direct Data Exchange (FA-DDX) and push another Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) transaction with federal tax information (FTI) data. Depending on timing, there is also the possibility that the FSA ID is verified before the first transaction is processed, so the first transaction will include the FTI.
